Wave Community Bank has been awarded the FairLife Mark for personal loans and savings.

The FairLife Mark represents a new fair trading initiative for the finance industry.  The Mark covers all areas of finance and is improving the products we use everyday e.g. loans, savings and mortgages.   It is helping customers to find products they can trust as well as promoting financial education from school to retirement.

Wave Community Bank’s CEO Ann Hickey says:

‘We are very proud to be awarded the FairLife mark for our savings and loans. As a co-operative run by its members, we work hard to offer financial services to meet our members’ needs and deliver financial education in the local community. We believe the FairLife Mark will give local residents confidence in us and encourage them to join their local credit union.’

Stuart Philips of the FairLIfe Charity says

‘The FairLife Charity awards the FairLife Mark to companies that price honestly and trade fairly with their customers.  The mark’s standards are about being fair to the customer and importantly about following the spirit not just the letter of the law. We are thrilled to have Wave Community Bank carry the FairLife Mark.’

The initiative enables good firms to come together and drive out poor practices.  Nobody knows the industry as well as the practitioners themselves and many now see the lack of public trust as a real problem.  The Fairlife Mark is harnessing this desire for change to give the public an additional level of protection. FairLife-marked products will not solve every problem, but they are a major step forward.  In short: the mark guides customers to products they can trust whilst allowing competition and consumer choice to flourish.

Background information about the FairLife Charity

The FairLife Charity has been created by a group of independent volunteers, so it can’t be accused of being in the banks’ pockets.  And it’s being gifted to the nation, by passing ownership to leading national charities and not-for-profits, to ensure it stays completely independent.  Profits from the FairLife Mark are used to promote financial education with FairLife schools, colleges and universities giving children the knowledge they need to make good financial decisions throughout their lives.  In this way the FairLife Mark is building financial security through knowledge. The FairLife initiative is about building knowledge and trust.  Knowledge to know what you need and trust in the products you rely on.
