Wave Community Bank is a savings and loans co-operative providing safe savings and affordable loans for local people. Equality is at the heart of what we do and we acknowledge that over 60% of our membership are women.
Changes to the Women in Finance Charter:
- As of 30th September 2019, 78% of WCB’s paid staff were women (11 out of 14).
- At 30th March 2021, this had decreased slightly to 75%.
- In March 2023 there are 12 members of staff, 8 of them are women (66%).
- In March 2025, 75% of senior managers are women and 59% of all staff are women.
WCB’s Board of Directors is elected by the membership. Four women (40%) serve on the Board at this time.
By signing up the Women in Finance Charter, WCB commits to:
1. Setting and monitoring targets
The CEO will be accountable for implementing targets and monitoring progresses.
The Credit Union will ensure that women are fairly represented at Senior Management level as well as at Board level.
2. Publishing targets
Wave Community Bank commits to ensuring that women represent at least 60% of the Senior Management Team.
Gender equality will be in all job descriptions, and will be measured during annual appraisals.
