Just One Tree

What if joining a credit union could help grow a forest?

At Wave Community Bank, supporting people has always gone hand in hand with supporting communities. Now, through a new partnership with global non-profit JUST ONE Tree, that support is reaching even further — helping the planet too.

The idea is simple, but powerful.
Every time someone joins Wave Community Bank as a new member, Wave will donate £1 to JUST ONE Tree. That £1 funds the planting of one tree in parts of the world where it’s needed most.
So, each new member doesn’t just take a positive step for their own financial wellbeing — they also help plant a tree that will grow for years to come.
It’s a small action that, over time, adds up to something much bigger.
As membership grows, so does the number of trees. One becomes ten, ten becomes a hundred, and before long, a whole forest begins to take shape — rooted in the collective impact of Wave’s community.

Trees are often called the “lungs of the planet” — and for good reason. They absorb carbon dioxide, improve air quality, and create habitats for wildlife.
But the impact doesn’t stop there.
Through its work in countries including Madagascar, Kenya, Indonesia and Brazil, JUST ONE Tree supports projects that:

  • Restore biodiversity and protect natural habitats
  • Provide sustainable incomes for local communities
  • Offer agricultural training and education
  • Help build long-term environmental resilience

Growing Something Together

What makes this initiative special is how easy it is for members to be part of it.
There’s no extra cost. No complicated process.
Just by joining Wave, members are helping to fund the planting of a tree — a simple act that contributes to tackling climate change and restoring the natural world.
It’s a reminder that meaningful change doesn’t always start with big gestures. Sometimes, it begins with something as small as £1… and grows into something far greater.

“We talk a lot about working with members to build financial sustainability, but we must also do what we can to contribute to a sustainable planet. This initiative goes a small way towards that”-Ann Hickey, CEO of Wave
