We are celebrating after being named Best Business at the Sussex Business Conference & Awards held in Hickstead this week, recognising the team’s hard work, commitment to members and positive impact on the communities it serves.

Sponsored by More Radio, the award recognises businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievements across their organisation, with a clear vision, strong growth and a commitment to innovation.

We were also shortlisted for the Customer Service Award, making the recognition even more special. Business Development Officer Jason Smith attended the event collecting the Best Business Award on behalf of the team.

A proud moment for Wave Community Bank

Winning Best Business is a fantastic achievement for Wave Community Bank and a testament to the dedication of our staff, who work hard throughout the year to support members and make a positive difference in our local communities.

As a not-for-profit credit union, we always put people before profit. By providing ethical savings and affordable loans we people build financial resilience and access responsible financial services. Unlike traditional banks, Wave Community Bank is owned by its members, with its focus firmly on the people and communities it serves.

Being recognised alongside so many outstanding businesses from across Sussex is a huge honour and a real boost for the entire team. The award reflects the hard work that goes into growing the organisation, improving its services and reaching more people who could benefit from becoming a member.

A buzzing day of business, inspiration and networking

The Sussex Business Conference & Awards was about much more than the awards themselves. It brought together businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations from across Sussex for a day of inspiration, learning and networking.

There was a real buzz throughout the event, with a fantastic networking opportunity to meet other local businesses, exchange ideas and make valuable new connections.

The conference also featured an impressive programme of speakers, including keynote speaker Anthony Bennett, known as the ‘Miracle Man’, who shared his inspirational story of resilience and recovery. Other sessions explored practical business topics, including marketing, smarter spending, tax planning and entrepreneurial success. Speakers included Sam Rehan, Nic Gray, Paul Thatcher and Charlotte Ffitch of THL Accounting; and Ian Hopping of Auditel.

The range of topics offered plenty for businesses to take away, whether they were looking to grow, improve their operations, strengthen their marketing or find new opportunities. It was particularly encouraging to see so many businesses from across Sussex coming together, celebrating their achievements and recognising the contribution local organisations make to the regional economy.

Celebrating the Sussex business community

Wave Community Bank would like to thank everyone involved in making the Sussex Business Conference & Awards such a successful event.

A special thank you goes to More Radio for organising the event and sponsoring the Best Business Award, alongside all the award sponsors, conference speakers, exhibitors, attendees and everyone who helped bring the day together.

Congratulations also go to all the winners, finalists and shortlisted businesses. Being recognised alongside so many brilliant organisations is something to be proud of, and the event was a great reminder of the talent, ambition and community spirit that exists across Sussex.

For us, taking home the Best Business Award is a moment to celebrate, but it is also motivation to keep doing what matters most: supporting our members, helping people manage their money and building stronger financial futures in the communities we serve.

Best Business in Sussex. It is an honour we are incredibly proud of, and one we share with our fantastic team and members.
