I know this sounds simple however I realised the difference it makes now I’ve actually done it. So what do I mean when I say shop when you get paid.

If like me you get paid monthly but tend to shop weekly by switching to a monthly shop and buy in bulk has definitely been the way to go as you can often buy things cheaper in larger quantities.

So instead of shopping at small retail shop on a Saturday I now tend to shop at wholesalers once a month and will often even bulk-buy enough for 3 months such as toilet rolls, cleaning products and large bags of food such as bread, chicken and burgers. It’s handy to have a freezer but rather than freeze food straight away I will cook a meal with it and then freeze. It can be costly do this so don’t be shocked when you get to the till. I tend to concentrate on bulk-buying cleaning products once a month and then bulk-buy food the next month. When you compare this to what you were spending money on a weekly basis, you should find that you are saving money when you look at your annual budget.

If I feel that I need to buy fresh fruit and vegetables then I will shop locally where I walk to so I don’t use money on fuel during the weeks. However as there’s just as much goodness in frozen food as opposed to fresh, I tend to buy more frozen currently as there’s often less wastage too.

So how about changing your shopping budgets and see the difference it makes over the year?
