As communities across the country prepare for Great Big Green Week 2025 – the UK’s biggest celebration of community-led climate action – Wave Community Bank is encouraging people to consider how greener choices at home and on the road could help both the planet and their pocket.
Running from 7th to 15th June, Great Big Green Week invites individuals and organisations to make lasting changes that support a cleaner, greener future. This year’s theme, “Let’s swap together for good”, is all about practical, everyday actions that benefit our environment and communities.
In support of the campaign, Wave Community Bank is drawing attention to the ways affordable finance can help make sustainable living more accessible. Its Green Loans are designed to support a range of environmentally friendly upgrades, including:
-
Solar panels and battery storage for home energy
-
Air source heat pumps, insulation and other energy efficiency measures
-
Electric vehicles, e-bikes and EV charging points
-
Other household changes that reduce carbon emissions
With energy costs and environmental concerns high on the agenda, many people are looking at how to cut their reliance on fossil fuels. For some, the main barrier is the initial cost of greener alternatives.
Emma Norledge, Deputy CEO of Wave Community Bank said:
“We know many of our members want to make greener choices – from reducing their home’s energy use to switching to electric vehicles. Our Green Loans are there to support that shift, offering fair and affordable finance to help turn plans into action.”
As a not-for-profit credit union, Wave Community Bank is owned by its members and focused on local impact. Loan repayments go back into the pot to help others, meaning every Green Loan supports more sustainable change across the community.
By highlighting greener finance options during Great Big Green Week, Wave hopes more people will feel able to plug into cleaner energy, cut carbon, and take practical steps towards a more sustainable way of living.
