Today 8th August 2025, Wave Community Bank marked a major milestone—25 years since we first opened our doors to serve the community. To commemorate the occasion, staff, members of our board and volunteers came together at both our Hove Head Office and our Kent office for a day of celebration and reflection.
This anniversary is a chance to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Wave over the years—from the dedicated customer service and back-office teams to those in financial management, administration and beyond. Every role has helped build the trusted, member-focused organisation we are today.
WCB’s President Richard Priestman said: “I have been involved with the credit union for well over half its life – in good times and bad! I am very proud of how we have all transformed the credit union into a sustainable and well run organisation with a fantastic team of staff who are all committed to moving us forward. Our social mission and our involvement in the community is also important to me and again we have exceeded expectations. I hope to be able to celebrate our 50th birthday but cannot guarantee it!!!”
We’ll also honoured our CEO, Ann Hickey, who has been with Wave from the very beginning. Her steady leadership and deep commitment to community finance have played a vital role in shaping the journey and values of Wave Community Bank.
Ann Hickey said “I’m really proud to have been part of Wave Community Bank’s journey. It has been hard work, but we have achieved a thriving sustainable community bank that puts its members and communities at the heart of what we do”
There was, of course, cake so that all the team could celebrate together. It’s was moment to acknowledge the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead to a future of continued community impact.
