Over the weekend of Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August 2025, Brunswick Square in Hove came alive with music, food, stalls and laughter as the much-loved Brunswick Festival took place once again. As a community bank, we were delighted to have a stand at this vibrant event, meeting so many wonderful people and joining in the celebrations of what truly was a fantastic weekend.
A festival full of community spirit
The Brunswick Festival has been running since the 1970s, starting life as a small village fete and steadily growing into the lively micro-festival it is today. Organised entirely by the Brunswick Community Festival Group, a volunteer-led not-for-profit organisation, it continues to embody everything that makes our local community so special: inclusivity, diversity, and togetherness.
From the moment you stepped into Brunswick Square, the atmosphere was buzzing. The stage at the bottom of the square showcased an incredible line-up of local talent including the Brighton City Singers, Loop The Moon, The Southern Slamdoor Band, The Tribulizations and DJ Bmore McVowty – with everything from choir harmonies to reggae, blues and even Celtic folk filling the air.
Families gathered on blankets to enjoy the music while the bustling marketplace offered stalls selling bric-a-brac, handmade goods, arts and crafts, vintage clothing, plants, fresh produce and more. Local businesses provided delicious food and drink, and there were plenty of opportunities to discover something unique. Children enjoyed the Willowisp family area with circus skills, arts and crafts and a colourful parade, while the wellbeing area gave festivalgoers a chance to try alternative therapies and massage.
Our role at the Brunswick Festival
For us, it was a real privilege to be part of the festival. We had a stand where we spoke to many attendees about the financial wellbeing services we provide to the residents of Brighton & Hove. Being alongside other brilliant community groups such as the Brighton and Hove Fair Trade Association, local fostering services, Greenpeace, Brighton & Hove Compass and UOK reminded us just how strong the spirit of collaboration is in our community.
We had some fantastic conversations with individuals and families, sharing how our services can support them in achieving financial confidence and security. Events like this are what we’re all about – being present, accessible and part of the communities we serve.

None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of the organisers and the many volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the weekend so special. We’d also like to thank everyone who stopped by our stand and all those who attended, your smiles, conversations and enthusiasm made the festival what it was.
Brunswick Squire Festival is more than just music and stalls, it’s a celebration of community, inclusivity and belonging. We’re proud to have played our part and we’re already looking forward to coming back next year.
