At Wave Community Bank, we’re thrilled to announce our enthusiastic support for the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards 2024, an uplifting annual event that shines a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing champions throughout the Kent community. As we navigate through life’s challenges, especially amidst the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, the support we receive becomes even more vital. That’s why we’re proud to stand alongside the mental health charity Mind in Bexley and East Kent to champion mental health initiatives that make a real difference.

This year, the awards celebrate three inspiring themes: mental health, wellbeing, and kindness and compassion. From schools to businesses, from communities to families, we’ve all been touched by individuals and organisations with innovative ideas and strategies to promote mental wellness. Now, it’s time to honour these unsung heroes and share their best practices far and wide.

As a member of the judging panel, Wave Community Bank is excited to recognise those who have made a positive impact in the community. Whether it’s a simple act of kindness that brightened someone’s day, a business fostering staff wellbeing, or a targeted initiative addressing mental health challenges, every nomination counts.

The support for this event is overwhelming, with partners like Kent County Council, Kent Community Foundation and many others standing alongside us. Mind in Bexley and East Kent invite nominations from across Kent, Medway, Bexley, and Bromley until noon on September 1, 2024. Visit www.kentmentalwellbeingawards.org.uk

At Wave Community Bank, we understand the critical link between mental health and financial wellbeing. Stress from financial concerns can worsen mental health issues, and vice versa. By championing mental health initiatives and supporting events like the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards, we aim to improve the resilience of our members and communities.

As a credit union, Wave Community Bank frequently fulfil a crucial role within the communities we serve that extends beyond our financial offerings. Through initiatives such as raising awareness about mental health issues, supporting various mental health programs, participating in esteemed award ceremonies like the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards, and providing valuable resources, Wave Community Bank actively contributes to enhancing the overall wellbeing of the Kent community.

Emma Norledge, Deputy CEO of Wave Community Bank commented “We’ve decided to champion these awards because being a community bank and a credit union, we support a lot of people with financial services. And we do often find that the people we are supporting have mental health issues that are so closely knitted with their financial situation. And we know as well from our member surveys that by joining the credit union, saving with us, leaming about the financial wellbeing work that we provide in terms of financial education, they can really improve their mental health because they improve their financial situation.”

Beyond our ethical financial services, we’re also committed to creating a culture of support and inclusivity in the workplace environment too. Employees’ mental health directly impacts their performance and engagement levels. By prioritising both their financial and mental wellbeing, we help businesses foster a positive environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.

Our dedication to mental health aligns with our values of social responsibility and community service. Together, let’s create a more supportive and sustainable future for all.

Join us in celebrating Kent’s mental wellbeing champions and making a positive difference in the community!
