It’s that time of year again when people start to stress about money and buying presents, especially students and young people on low incomes. So we’re here with some tips to help young people save money at Christmas.
First of all, it’s likely that people expect you to have a smaller budget, so don’t stress too much about spending lots of money. But here are some other ways to work with your wallet:
- Try buying joint presents for couples or extended family members. Things like board games or activities they can do together are good ideas!
- You can buy second-hand. You can find lots of items that haven’t been used or opened, and for a fraction of the price! Try Facebook Marketplace or your local charity shops.
- You could even bring out your creative side and see what gifts you can make for people! A handmade gift is very thoughtful and there are plenty of ideas on Pinterest! If you like to give Christmas cards, why not have a go at making your own?
- In the future, you could try and buy gifts all year around. This means the cost is spread over an extended period of time, and by the time December comes, you’re ready!
