We at Wave Community Bank are always thrilled to see the incredible things our members are doing in the community. Recently, one of our inspiring members, Melissa Dizon of KPO Architecture, invited us to be part of something truly special: the Women Across The Sectors (WATS) networking event.
Melissa eloquently captured the atmosphere in her own words:
Every time I walk into The Glass Room Venue at Betteshanger Country Park, I feel it—that indescribable energy. There’s something deeply uplifting, inspirational, and empowering about being surrounded by women from all walks of life, all sectors, all stories—all connected.
This latest WATS gathering, the third of its kind, was clearly another resounding success. Co-organised with the dynamic Tyler Christy, Park and Business Development Manager, and the talented Chris Henry of Chris Henry Photography (whose artistry in capturing the essence of the event you can witness here: Women Across the Sectors – April 2025 Retail Networking — Chris Henry Photography – Ashford Headshot, Portrait, Corporate and LinkedIn Photography), the day was filled with connection and inspiration. We were also treated to a unique perspective thanks to Paul Brown of 123Drone, whose drone footage and aerial time-lapses added a cinematic flair (check it out: Betteshanger).
What truly sets WATS apart, as Melissa highlights, is its experiential nature. It’s about forging genuine connections that go beyond simple exchanges. And this is where our very own Jennifer Sutton from Wave Community Bank played a pivotal role, offering not just an icebreaker but a truly thought-provoking introduction. Drawing inspiration from a session at the University of Kent’s Philanthropy Conference, Jennifer shared an insight that resonated deeply with everyone present:
“The idea that shifting our perspective can change our reality isn’t just powerful for fundraising; it resonates deeply in our everyday lives as business professionals and individuals. We all face challenges where looking at things through a new lens can unlock unexpected solutions and opportunities. It’s about finding that same view, but daring to see it differently.” 💡
This insightful start, both breaking the ice and sparking deeper reflection, set the tone for a day of open minds and meaningful interactions.
This particular WATS event shone a spotlight on the Hospitality Sector, and we were privileged to hear from Tara Capon, Sales Manager at Chilston Park Hotel. With over two decades of experience in weddings and events, Tara’s insights into sustainability, creativity, and crafting bespoke experiences left everyone feeling truly inspired.
It’s moments like these that underscore the importance of community and connection.
