As a community bank, WCB work to support the local community in lots of ways and the latest is sponsoring local ladies’ football team, Mile Oak Ladies Football Club.

Since the Lionesses won the UEFA Euro 2022 tournament, there has been a 30% increase in registered women’s teams and it is this growth in the women’s game that WCB wanted to help encourage and support.

Emma Norledge, Deputy CEO of Wave Community Bank

“We wanted to sponsor a local grass roots team and supporting the rise of women’s football is more important now than ever as women are increasingly setting up their own teams and enjoying playing the game. We wish the Oaks all the best for the new season!”

Lauren Wilton Founder of Mile Oak Ladies FC said:

“I am grateful and honoured that Wave Community Bank took the decision to sponsor my ladies football team and helping it grow, in the hope of becoming one of the top teams around, their ongoing support will be vital to this. Like many ladies’ teams, they are run purely on funds raised within the team itself due to lack of funding, so having Wave take our club under their wing shows great support towards the growth of women’s football.”
