This week is Carers Week, and our very own Financial Wellbeing Support Officer – known to many as Money Tracy – is out and about supporting NHS staff who care, both in and outside the workplace.
Tracy is joining teams at University Hospitals Sussex throughout the week at their Carers Network stands across hospital sites. These stands, supported by the Carers UK charity, offer a space for staff to learn more about help available for those with caring responsibilities.
Currently, University Hospitals Sussex has 60 staff members registered in their Carers Network – and it’s believed that around a third of all staff at the Trust have some form of caring responsibility, whether for family, friends, or others.
Tracy will be on hand at several events this week, signposting NHS colleagues to confidential financial wellbeing support through Wave Community Bank. From help with budgeting to ethical loans and saving options, Tracy’s role is to ensure no carer faces financial challenges alone.
“We often focus on the care staff give in the workplace – but so many are also caring behind the scenes at home,” says Tracy. “I’m here to make sure they’re supported financially, as well as emotionally and practically.”
