October is really when we get the sense that winter is coming with the nights drawing in and the sun rising later.

It’s the month for Halloween so no doubt the kids will be dressing up and scary movies will be shown on TV – and some of you may be taking to the shops to start that all-important Christmas shopping but what else is popular?

New clothing and walking boots are on the list as we get in our new warm coats and jackets for the winter but coffee machines and electronic devices such as laptops and TVs are also popular as people start thinking about what they need over the cold winter months that will be coming soon.

As we’re in a living cost crisis and the focus for many of us this year is on the cost of energy lots of us are looking at other ways to warm our homes and how to reduce our consumption and bills so it looks like sales in warm blankets, teddy fleeces and wood burners will be on the increase in addition to energy-saving light bulbs, draught-proofing and loft insulation for your home.

But all of these cost money so how can we invest in these necessities as well as put food on the table?

By having an Ethical Home Improvement Loan from Wave Community Bank you can spread the cost of your purchases, whether that’s new clothing, TVs, insulation or light bulbs and have the reassurance that you are building your savings as you repay your loan so when the loan is paid off you will be able to put that towards your next purchase.

To help with rising costs why not read our member’s blogs which are full of ideas on how to save money on your shopping, cooking and lots more and don’t forget to sign up to our next Webinar on How to Survive the Living Cost Crisis.
